Biography

In the 2025/2026 season, Tobias Hechler will make his debut at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf/Duisburg as Tolomeo in Handel's »Giulio Cesare«. Further debuts will follow in spring 2026 as Orfeo in Gluck's »Orfeo ed Euridice« at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt, as well as Servo in the world premiere of Sciarrino's »Agamennone« at the Bühnen Bern.

In recent seasons, he celebrated debuts in specialist roles such as Oberon in Britten's »A Midsummer Night's Dream« at the Theater Vorpommern (2022) and Ruggiero in Handel's »Alcina« at the Volkstheater Rostock (2023).
Further guest engagements have taken him to the Frankfurt Opera, the Theater an der Wien, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Staatstheater Hannover, as well as the Theater Osnabrück and the Wuppertaler Bühnen.
As a concert soloist he has appeared in the great oratorios and passions of Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Friedrich Handel, as well as in Pergolesi's »Stabat Mater«, Vivaldi's »Gloria« and the »Chichester Psalms« by Leonard Bernstein.

In 2021 he took part in the renowned Young Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival.

He completed his studies first at the Bremen University of the Arts with Katharina Rössner and later with Gudrun Pelker at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. He received further inspiration and coaching from Margreet Honig and Marek Rzepka.
He was a scholarship holder of the Evangelisches Studienwerk Villigst.
